Trigonometric Idenities

      by Richard Howlett

HOW TO USE THIS APPLET:

Click on the display button and three trigonometric identities will appear. Using the angle of 60 degrees from the diagram of the unit circle the applet will prove the identity by simple mathematics. Other trigonometric relationships are given at the bottom of the applet.

NOTES ON THIS APPLET:

All of the idenities above can be proved without giving sample values for the Angle A. The can just as easily be proved from the unit circle above by using the distance formula. The identity cos^A + sin^A = 1 is exremely important in Leaving Certificate Mathematics and can be used to derive many other identities.

OTHER USEFUL INFORMATION:

All of these trigonometric identities and ratios can be found on the first few pages of your log tables
